PANDORUM

Germany/USA sci-fi horror PANDORUM. Postproduction and VFX realized by studio UPP. Approximately half a year of working on this project on highend texturing and 3D mattepainting.


WORKING ROLE / WHAT I DID :

  • texture artist (texturing of environments, vehicles, props)
  • 3D mattepainter (set extensions, photo 3D reconstruction)
Pandorum was the other film, which I worked on in studio UPP. In this case I was specialized on creation of digital surfaces and completion of environments. One of the most difficult part was texturing of the huge spaceship of the same name, on which a few graphic designers worked together. This texturing included various types of maps, like specular, dirt, metalic maps or maps for lights and so on. We devoted special attention to a reactor interior, I worked on it with excellent digital artist Jan Kurka. Detail and superdetail textures and shaders took us more than a month. There were more interesting scenes about technology, for example bridge commander, where I dealt with 3D environment reconstruction for a dynamic raid of a camera from cosmos. Sculpting/digital modelling of the moon Enceladus surface was challenging lecture because of coordination and work with huge amount of dates. In this project, and not only here, I taught my colleagues how to work with texturing tool BodyPaint 3D. You can watch some samples bellow. I worked about half a year on this project.
